Project Implementation/Migrations

Upgrades and migrations can often be slow and complex processes which can compromise network security, availability and performance. Imtech Telecom Global’s consultants have the technical expertise and knowledge to assist your organisation with implementing projects swiftly and seamlessly with minimal risk and impact on your network.

Firewall Migrations

Imtech’s flexible Firewall Migration service provides ‘hands-on’ experienced consultants with tried and tested processes and technologies. Imtech’s consultants have in-depth knowledge and experience of CheckPoint, Cisco, and Juniper deployments and can therefore ensure timely and accurate conversions of configuration files. They will also detect any incorrect configurations on your original equipment in order to quickly address any conversion issues.

Equipped with automated processes that minimise data entry errors, Imtech’s consultants deliver infrastructure and business analysis as well as design, test and deployment guidance. Imtech’s Firewall Migration service utilises an established approach which has been developed through working with customers worldwide over the years.

There are 3 stages to the Firewall Migration service:-

Stage 1: Audit and Analyse – Imtech’s consultant will perform a firewall policy and configuration review on your existing firewall to identify any security issues with the configuration and areas where a policy clean-up can be carried out.

Imtech’s consultant will then determine the most efficient and effective design for your organisation based upon your requirements. They will identify feature differences and examine policy and object grouping issues. Design issues such as routing, Network Address Translation (NAT), High Availability (HA), and other advanced feature sets will also be investigated. Finally a zone-based policy migration will be planned and documented to meet your businesses specific needs and objectives.

Stage 2: Network and Workstation Object, Service Object and Policy Conversion – With the results from stage 1 Imtech’s consultant will work at your designated site utilising both automated and manual methods to convert your organisation’s firewall policy and configuration. Once the new configuration is imported preliminary testing will be performed. The configuration may then be adjusted and fine-tuned based upon the results of the preliminary testing.

Stage 3: Migration and Production Cutover – Imtech’s consultant will develop a migration plan and work onsite to provide testing support before and during the migration process. They will then perform the cutover to production, monitor the function of the firewall devices and tweak any configuration as necessary.

Router Migrations

Seamless router migration depends on your engineering team understanding the intricacies of both your current and new firewall products. Imtech can provide experienced consultants combined with established processes and ‘tried and tested’ technologies to minimise risk whilst accelerating migration.

Imtech’s Router Migration service provides an expert consultant experienced in the removal of legacy edge routers (including Redback Networks, Cisco, Shasta and others). Juniper ERX router migration is available in standard (replacement) or advanced (migration plus configuration) service configurations, and is accomplished in three stages:

Stage 1: Consulting – Imtech’s Professional Services team will collate your businesses migration requirements and assist with any network engineering as necessary.

Stage 2: Development – Imtech will develop a fully customised process to convert the legacy device configuration into ERX configuration.

Stage 3: Migration Implementation – The configuration conversion process is combined with operational requirements and considerations to produce a complete migration process specific to your organisation. During the migration process Imtech’s consultant will continually transfer knowledge to your staff, resulting in ongoing improved operational efficiencies and application performance.
