All Ciena Service Access, Service Concentrator, and Service Delivery Switch platforms are based on a common SAOS code base to deliver consistent benefits to all Ethernet access configurations. SAOS implements standards-based, Carrier Class Ethernet access to ensure interoperability with legacy Ethernet equipment and long-term investment protection. Ciena is at the forefront of advanced Carrier Class Ethernet service deployment – including “hard” QoS, video Multicast services, VLAN tag stacking and advanced OAM management – taking advantage of the historical scalability and affordability of Ethernet whilst preserving interoperability with installed equipment.
